Chris Rix Career

College career

Chris Rix is the first and only four-year starter at quarterback (2001–2004), and has served under Bobby Bowden. Despite a severe ankle injury suffered early in his senior year, Rix currently ranks second in every major passing category at FSU. The Seminoles earned three Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) awards and appeared in four straight bowl games during Rix's tenure at Florida State.

When Rix passed for 3,107 yards and 23 touchdowns, he had his most successful season in 2003. He ranks second in school history in terms of passes attempted, completed, and touchdowns rejected. Rix missed the 2003 Sugar Bowl after he overslept and skipped an exam, causing him to be suspended after being sacked for the remainder of the season.

Rix is the year's first and only four-year starter in Florida State history, and he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) freshman of the year. Coach Bobby Bowden was the deciding factor in his decision not to apply for the NFL draft after his Junior year.

Broadcasting career

In the 2005 NFL Draft, Rix was undrafted. He was admitted to the San Diego Chargers' rookie camp on a tryout basis. He began working in sports broadcasting in the same year, first as a high school football analyst for Fox Sports Net in Los Angeles. In 2005, he worked as a college football analyst for Fox Sports Radio. In 2006, then joined CSTV, a CBS affiliate, to serve as a color commentator and analyst in their coverage of college football games. Rix was the sideline reporter for FOX Sports for the 2006 Cotton Bowl Classic between Texas Tech and Alabama, as well as a FOX NFL match between the San Diego Chargers and the Arizona Cardinals. Chris Rix was a college football studio analyst for ABC in Los Angeles in 2007.

Rix is currently a college football and NFL analyst for Fox Sports Radio. He appears on the Chris Myers and Steve Hartman Show as well as hosting Fox Gametime segments as a member of the Clear Channel Radio Affiliate.

Rix founded the Champion Training Academy and The Champion Organization during his playing career. The venture focuses on the development and mentoring of young athletes. Bishop Amat High School named Rix as the school's varsity quarterbacks coach in the spring of 2008. Rix resigned as a full-time coach after one fruitful season to concentrate on family, sportscasting, and ministry.

On January 5, 2010, Chris Rix was named Master of Ceremonies for the BCS National Championship Breakfast, which featured the Texas Longhorns and the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, in which Rix is also on staff as a Director of Ministries in Southern California, hosted the festival.
