Guillebeau dropped out of high school as a youth, but at age 16, he began attending college classes. He earned credits from several colleges before graduating with a bachelor's degree from Athens State University in two and a half years. Guillebeau started The Art of Nonconformity in 2008, a blog that addresses a variety of topics, including entrepreneurship, self-employment, and travel. He introduced A Brief Guide to World Domination, a free e-book that was eventually downloaded over 100,000 times in June 2008. Also in 2008, Guillebeau began blogging to share his own ambition of visiting all 193 countries in the world by his 35th birthday in April 2013. The trips were mainly funded by self-employment income, accrued airline miles, and other travel reward schemes.
