Steven Shih Chen (born August 25, 1978) is an American Internet entrepreneur and former chief technology officer of YouTube's video-sharing service.

Early years and education
Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Prospect Heights, Illinois, when he was seven years old. He attended River Trails Middle School in Mount Prospect for his middle school education and John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights for his freshman year of high school. He attended the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, Illinois, for his final three years of high school. He studied computer science at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
Personal life
In 2009, Chen married Park Ji-hyun, who now works as a Google Korea product marketing manager. They and their two children now live in Taipei, Taiwan. In July 2010, one son was born. The Chens are major supporters of the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, where Jamie was appointed a trustee in July 2012. Chen and his family have lived in Taiwan since August 2019 and have been living there since then.
Business career
Chen was a PayPal employee first known Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim. Chen was also a Facebook employee, but he resigned after a few months to start YouTube.
Chad Hurley, Jawed Karim, and Steve Chen established YouTube in 2005, with Chen taking over the position of chief technology officer. Chen was voted one of "The 50 people who matter now" in industry in June 2006.
On October 16, 2006, Chen and Hurley sold YouTube to Google, Inc. for $1.65 billion. Chen obtained 625,366 shares of Google and an additional 68,721 in a trust as part of the auction. The Google shares are expected to be worth almost $1.77 billion as of September 2021.
AVOS Systems, which purchased Delicious from Yahoo, was founded by He and Hurley. Inc.
