Chanté Torrane Moore (born February 17, 1967) is an American singer-songwriter, actress, television host, and author.

Moore came to fame in the early 1990s as an R&B performer. Precious was her debut studio album released in 1992.

The album was certified gold by the RIAA on November 14, 1994, in the United States, spawning hits like "Love's Taken Over" and "It's Alright."

A Love Supreme, her second album, which came out in 1994, did not achieve the same success as her debut album. This Moment Is Mine, her third album, was released in 1999.

"Chanté's Got a Man" was the album's first top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 78. The R&B chart, which became her signature tune and her best charting song to date, ranks 2nd on the R&B chart.

She has since released three more solo studio albums, Exposed (2008), Moore Is More (2013), and two joint albums Things That Lovers Do (2006), both with Kenny Lattimore. Moore went beyond just singing, to be involved in TV One's reality series R&B Divas: Los Angeles for three seasons before it was cancelled.

Personal life

Chante married a friend from her youth in 1991. Chante says, "I was a little shy about love after being in a few bad ones, so I guess I'll outsmart love this time; I'll marry my friend." Kadeem Hardison met her husband in 1993 after falling out of love with him. She applied for divorce and then dated Hardison.

Moore's mother died on January 25, 1995, on the anniversary of her brother's birth.

Sophia Hardison, a 1996 girl, had a daughter named Sophia Hardison with Kadeem Hardison. They secretly married in 1997 and divorced in 2000.

Kenny Lattimore married Kenny Lattimore on New Year's Day, 2002, at a private ceremony in Jamaica. They were born in 2003. She and Kenny Lattimore divorced in a Facebook post on July 27, 2011.

Kelvin Gomillion, her older brother (born January 25, 1961), died on August 18, 2013.

Moore was a member of Silas' MCA-distributed imprint Silas Records. Benny Medina had previously signed to Warner Bros Records, releasing a whole album before being banned. Moore's "Candlelight and You" was released on the House of R&B's soundtrack in 1991, and she immediately began recording her solo debut album.

Moore's debut album, Precious, was released on September 29, 1992 by Silas Records and MCA Records. Simon Law, Bebe Winans, George Duke, and others' creations were among the album's top-three hits, as well as one on the United States. Billboard's 200 albums chart. According to Billboard Hot 100 and R&B Singles charts, the first single, "Love's Taken Over," debuted at number eighty-six and number thirteen. Moore, co-executive producer of the album and co-wrote eight of the album's songs with Fred Moultrie. "Old School Lovin'," the album's first single, debuted at number nineteen on the R&B chart, marking her third top-20 R&B hit. "This Time" (1994), "I'm What You Need" (1995), and "Free/Sail On" (1995). Moore appeared on the soundtrack to the hit film Waiting to Exhale in 1995, including solo, "Wey U" and backing vocals on the hit song, "Count On Me."

She released her third album This Moment Is Mine in 1999, leading to her biggest single to date, "Chanté's Got a Man," written for then-husband Kadeem Hardison. On the R&B chart, it ranked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number two, and gold on the R&B chart, and was rated gold. It was a sequel to JoJo Hailey of Jodeci's single "I See You in a Different Light" and included in the film For the Love of the Game starring Kevin Costner as the main theme.

Moore worked with a different group of collaborators on the more recent R&B album Exposed, which came after she separated from Hardison in 2000. The album included songs "Straight Up" (produced by Jermaine Dupri) and "Bitter," for which the latter's video continued the R. Kelly and The Isley Brothers "Mr. Big" story's story.

Moore received the Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Single in 2002, a collaboration starring The Isley Brothers and R. Kelly. The artist was also selected for a Grammy Award for R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

The two bands signed as a duet act to Arista Records and released a duet cover album titled Things That Lovers Do in 2003, a year after marrying R&B singer Kenny Lattimore. After the album and a music video for the single "You Don't Have to Cry," which shows a prominently pregnant Moore on film with Lattimore, the album was released with a stageplay.

Moore produced Uncovered/Covered, a double-CD of gospel and R&B love songs in fall 2006. Dual singles, the Bryan-Michael Cox-produced "Figure It Out," and "Make Me Like the Moon," a gospel ballad written by Lattimore and Moore and directed by Fred Hammond, were leading off the set. The Uncovered/Covered project of LaFace/Verity/Zomba Music Group was announced on October 10, 2006.

Moore, Dave Hollister, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Shar Jackson, and Danielle Mone Truitt appeared in By Any Means Necessary in 2007.

She signed a new solo recording deal with Peak Records, a Concord Music Group affiliate.

On June 17, 2008, Moore unveiled Love the Woman, her fifth solo album. "Ain't Supposed to Be This Way" was the album's lead single, and it was everywhere on radio on May 12, 2008.

Moore scheduled some dates for a Love the Woman tour in 2009, with performances in Los Angeles and Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, she appeared in a live stage production of Otis Sallid's Gospel with James Pickens, Jr. (of Grey's Anatomy), Vickie Winans, Loretta Devine, Reginald VelJohnson, Rocky Carroll, and Kenny Lattimore.

In addition,, she will appear in the forthcoming stage play "Married But Single Too" which will premiere off-Broadway in February. The Rise of the Phoenix, her seventh studio album, was announced in February, and then in April the following month. On March 20, she premiered her single "Real One" by GVisuals. Moore unveiled on June 26, 2017, Moore said that The Rise of the Phoenix would be published on September 9, 2017. Moore unveiled a promotional video on August 7, 2017, announcing the cover art. "Something to Remember" was her second single as well as a music video. The album's track list was revealed the following day. On September 8, the album premiered on streaming services, while the physical release date was postponed to September 29 and October 20.

In addition, she released Christmas Back to You, her first full-length Christmas collection, in November 2017. Lewis Sky performed in "One Love" in March 2018, ahead of her debut of a new EP, number 1 of 4, which was released on April 5.
