Casey Morton Cott (born August 8, 1992) is an American actor best known for his role as Kevin Keller on The CW's Riverdale series.
Early life and education
Cott was born in 1992, the middle of three children of Rick Cott, an investment strategist and former fighter pilot in the Air Force, and Lori Cott (née Morton). Cott grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, with his younger sister and older brother, actor Corey Cott, and graduated from Chagrin Falls High School. He attended Boston University for two years before deciding to study acting, then transferring to the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, where he graduated in 2016.
Personal life
Cott resides in New York City. Cott revealed his love to his girlfriend, Nichola Basara, on December 19, 2020. They were married on December 18, 2021, and that was the beginning of their union.
Career
Cott began his acting career in local Ohio theater, appearing in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and Romeo and Juliet, among other things. He was active in the local theater scene after arriving in Pittsburgh for school while still appearing in university theater productions concurrently. He appeared in a 2014 production of Small Engine Repair at Barebone Productions, as well as a a 2014 production of Small Engine Repair at Barebone Productions. In August 2016, he appeared as Moses in Stephen Schwartz's debut concert performance The Prince of Egypt, opposite Shuler Hensley and John Cariani.
Cott appeared on the CW drama series Riverdale, a television version of the Archie Comics universe, on March 12, 2016. Kevin's character is notable due to his role as the first openly gay character in Archie Comics history. In a Facebook video shared to fans in March 2017, Cott said that he first auditioned for the role of Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones before landing the role of Kevin. For the second season, he was promoted to a series regular.
Cott revealed on March 12, 2018, at the SXSW Festival, that he will appear in the film The Mascot, written and directed by Matthew Perkins. Nick Shepherd, an ex-quarterback turned mascot, will be playing the lead role. However, as of early 2019, the project has stalled. Cott appeared in the film "All the Little Things We Kill" in which he plays Trever Olsson's supporting role.
In March 2019, it was revealed that Cott would play the titular role in a Kennedy Center production of The Who's Tommy, starring Mandy Gonzalez and Christian Borle.
