Brittney Marie Karbowski (born June 26, 1986) is an American voice actress who has appeared in a variety of English-language versions of Japanese anime series for ADV Films, Funimation, and Sentai Filmworks, most notably Black Star from Soul Eater.
Early life
Karbowski was born in Sugar Land, Texas, on June 26, 1986. She attended Kempner High School in 2004 and briefly attended University of Houston, where she minored in theater.
Personal life
In 2010, Karbowski was briefly hospitalized with a fractured neck.
On October 11, 2013, she married Matthew Hernandez.
Career
Karbowski began her acting career in Houston, Texas, with Little Shop of Horrors, Seussical, and Pirates of Penzance. A director from ADV Films noticed Janet while playing Janet in a local stage production of The Rocky Horror Show. She first got into the anime industry in 2004 when she was asked to be an extra in the series Gantz. Fuko from Gilgamesh was her favorite bb by December 2006, she thought the plot was "cute and wicked, but in a good way." Through her work at ADV Films, She gained experience as Himeko Katagiri in Pani Poni Dash and Aoba Tsuzaki in Jinki: Extend. Karbowski started voicing for Funimation in 2007 with a leading role as Mai in Itsudatte My Santa! When she appeared in Akiba's Beat in 2007, she also expanded her voice acting to other platforms. ADV Films ceased operations in 2008, and several locations were relocated to Funimation. After the title transfer took place, it was also during this period that she portrayed lead heroine Ayu Tsukimiya in Kanon. Through Funimation, Karbowski has since dubbed hundreds of characters, some in major and minor roles.
Karbowski has appeared in films including Celie in Up & Down, Susie in Puncture, and a backpack girl in The Starving Games. In the science fiction Code of Evil, she was supposed to be a lead character Zax. In the 2014 horror film Atrocity, Karbowski appeared.
