Life and career

Bako was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to Jewish parents. Her mother, Dorothy, is a Holocaust survivor.

She worked with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and appeared with the Canadian National Shakespeare Company.

She has appeared in Hollywood films, many Canadian-made films, and Canadian-based Canadian productions. In Martin Scorsese's New York Stories, Bako's first big break came in. She co-starred in Red Shoe Diaries alongside David Duchovny and Billy Wirth; Benjamin Bratt and Michael Keaton in One Good Cop; and Ralph Fiennes in Strange Days. Bako received a Genie Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival, and Saint Monica was on display at the Toronto International Film Festival. In 1993, Bako received a Genie Award nomination for Best Actress. She appeared in Uniform's I Love a Man, her first collaboration with Canadian producer Robert Lantos.

Bako makes her debut in G-Spot as a writer and executive producer.

Bako appeared in a 2007 episode of the showtime series Californication (Episode 9, "Filthy Lucre," as a Porsche saleswoman).

In Godzilla: The Series, she played Angela in Gargoyles and Monique Dupre.
