Melina Eleni Kanakaredes Constantinides (born April 23, 1967) is an American actress.

Early life
Kanakaredes was born in Akron, Ohio, as the niece of Connie (née Temo), a candy company founder, and Harry Kanakaredes, an insurance salesman. She is a second-generation Greek-American and fluently speaks Greek. Her two maternal uncles own and operate "Temo's Candy Company," a candy store that was opened in Akron by Kanakaredes' grandfather Christ Temo.
Kanakaredes made her stage debut in a Tom Sawyer production at Weathervane Playhouse in Akron, Ohio, at age eight. She graduated from Firestone High School in Akron. She attended The Ohio State University for a short time and then moved to Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she played her role as Mary Magdalene in the Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, as well as the role of Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar. She graduated from Point Park in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater arts.
Personal life
On September 6, 1992, Kanakaredes married Peter Constantinides. They have two children together: Zoe (b. b. ). (b. 2000) and Karina Eleni (b.). Kanakaredes' first television appearance was on the daytime drama Guiding Light, starring Eleni Andros Cooper from 1991 to 1995. Eleni's portrayal was nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy Award.
