Each of Duquesne's players received a new pair of NBA superstar LeBron James' shoes before playing in its first NCAA Tournament game in nearly 50 years against Brigham Young. Duquesne had to win the Atlantic-10 Conference Tournament to secure a spot in March Madness, and had done so by winning four games in a row, including over Dayton, the conference's regular-season champions. James' gift to Duquesne was not out of appreciation. Keith Dambrot, the Dukes' first high school coach at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, is in charge.

Despite Retzlaff's last-ditch attempt to stop the game, Bowman Jr.'s front turned away from him and into the end zone. The audience at LaVell Edwards Stadium in BYU was stunned into silence. Meanwhile, the Sooners commemorated the astonishing touchdown.
