He began writing for the television show The Jeffersons in 1977.
He has also written for Mork & Mindy, Still the Beaver, and Happy Days, among other television shows. Levant's film work is widely criticized by film critics, with his highest rated film on Rotten Tomatoes being Little Giants at 36% and his lowest rated film being Problem Child 2 at 7%.
Levant responded with, "I'm making movies for the people that I was sitting at home watching Garfield Goose and The Three Stooges on WGN." But, when you're at Blockbuster, you're seeing family after your family grabs one of your movies off the shelves on a Friday night, it's an act of self-flagellation.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen it.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen that."
