Brian Holland Life

Brian Holland (born February 15, 1941) is an American singer and record producer best known as a member of Holland–Dozier–Holland, the songwriting and production team that was behind much of the Motown sound and many hit songs by artists including Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and the Isley Brothers.

Holland, as well as Lamont Dozier, served as the team's musical arranger and producer.

He has written or co-written 145 hits in the United States and 78 in the United Kingdom. Holland was born in Detroit, Michigan.

For a brief period, he collaborated with Robert Bateman, and the two became "Brianbert" together, working on such hits as "Please Mr. Postman" for The Marvelettes. Holland has also worked as a performer on and off.

In 1958, he released "Briant Holland" as a solo artist.

He and his longtime friend and future songwriting partner Freddie Gorman were both members of the Fidalatones for a short time (1960–62) and also a member of the Rayburn Voices, a group that backed up several early Motown recording sessions.

In the early and mid-1970s, he worked with Lamont Dozier, releasing a lone single for Motown in 1963, before being revived in early and mid-1970s, scoring a number of medium-sized R&B hits.

Holland resumed his solo recording career in 1974, peaking in the charts as a solo artist in '74 and '75.' Holland has written songs for the First Wives Club musical.
