Brian Campbell Life

Brian Wesley Campbell (born May 23, 1979) is a retired Canadian ice hockey defenseman.

He competed for the Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL).

In 2010, he won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks, assisting in the decision.

Personal life

Campbell grew up in Strathroy, Ontario, where he attended elementary school at Colborne Street Public School and high school at Strathroy District Collegiate Institute. When playing for the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League, he also attended Canterbury High School in Ottawa (OHL). Ed and Lorna are his parents. Craig and Darryl are two brothers. Darryl has played in the ECHL for four seasons, most recently for the Mississippi Sea Wolves.

Campbell was quarantined as a result of a potential SARS outbreak in 2003 — a cousin of Campbell, who worked at a hospital, had visited him just before the relative began to exhibit SARS symptoms and was subsequently hospitalized. Both Campbell and his then-teammate, as well as roommate Rhett Warrener, were quarantined. Campbell played in three games before being allowed to return to play again. Neither player had SARS symptoms.

During the 2011 NHL All-Star break, Campbell and Lauren Miller became engaged.

Campbell has been given the nickname "Soupy" because he shares his surname with that of the Campbell Soup Company.

During Campbell's 50th anniversary season, they were retired by the Ottawa 67's'. It was officially retired on November 3, 2017, at TD Place Arena, ahead of a game against the Barrie Colts. Campbell is the fifth player to have their number retired by the Ottawa 67's.

Brian Campbell Career

Playing career

Campbell grew up playing minor hockey in Strathroy, Ontario, where he earned an OMHA Championship at the novice level. Joe Thornton, a former NHL teammate, and Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs, all played AAA hockey from 1993 to 1994, which was the organization's inaugural year. Campbell played with the Petrolia Jets Jr.B. from 1994 to 1995. The Western Ontario Hockey League (WOHL) is an acronym that stands for Ontario Hockey League (OHA).

Campbell was drafted by the Ottawa 67's following his time with the Jets. Nick Boynton, the 67's first-round pick of the season, would spend four seasons in Ottawa as a defence partner for Campbell; the two teams reunited 15 years later as teammates on the 2010 Stanley Cup-winning Chicago Blackhawks.

Campbell was selected in the OHL as a third-round draft pick in the 1995 OHL Priority Pick. He received the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL's Most Valuable Player in 1998–99. He also won the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the OHL's Most Valuable Player of the Year and the William Hanley Trophy as the OHL's Most Gentlemanly Player of the Year and the OHL's Most Valuable Player of the Year, and then the Memorial Cup as Ottawa defeated Calgary 7–6 in overtime on home ice.

In the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Campbell was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres as their sixth-round pick. He appeared in his first game for the Sabres in 1999-2000 season and remained with the team until February 26, 2008, when he was traded to San Jose. He played for Jokerit in the Finnish SM-liiga from 2004-05 and captured the silver medal in the league championships.

Campbell was the top vote-getter for the 2007 NHL All-Star Game, earning him his first All-Star appearance. Campbell was named alternate captain for the month of November 2007 and captain for the month of December as a result of the Sabres' evolving captaincy policy. Campbell was then selected again to the 2008 NHL All-Star Game.

Campbell was under contract with Buffalo in 2007-2008, the final season for the team. The Sabres and their seventh-round draft pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft (194th overall; Drew Daniels), along with forward Steve Bernier and their 2008 first-round pick (26th overall; Tyler Ennis), traded Campbell on February 26, 2008 at the NHL trade deadline. Campbell was eventually cut out of the Western Conference Semi-finals by the Dallas Stars, and the Sharks were then released as a free agent after the season ended.

Campbell was also a leader in games played in 2007, 2007, the first player to play in 83 games, or one game more than a team's full schedule, was Jeff Halpern. Campbell was named as a member of the NHL Competition Committee on April 21, 2008.

Campbell agreed to an eight-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks as an unrestricted free agent. Despite reportedly receiving better contract offers from other companies, Campbell chose the Blackhawks to sign with them, according to Fox Chicago. In all 82 of Chicago's regular-season games in the 2008–09 season, he scored seven goals and 45 assists. Chicago advanced to the Western Conference Finals, where the Detroit Red Wings defeated them in 17 Stanley Cup playoff games this season. He had eight assists in 17 Stanley Cup playoff games this season.

Campbell was hospitalized in a boarding incident triggered by Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin on March 14, 2010. While Campbell did not return to the game, Ovechkin was given a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding. Ovechkin was suspended two games by the NHL as a result of unlawful boarding. Campbell had a broken clavicle and broken rib, and had been scheduled to miss seven-to-eight weeks. Despite this, Campbell was able to return to the Nashville Predators by Game 4 of the first round of the 2010 playoffs, igniting the team to a three-game winning streak and knocking Nashville out of the playoffs, four games to two. Campbell had played in 388 games prior to injury. Campbell was the lone assist on Patrick Kane's overtime game-winner's downhill to the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 6 in the Finals, clinching the Stanley Cup for the sixth time in the series, with the Blackhawks up three games to two.

Campbell was traded to the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Rostislav Olesz, who was in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Campbell had 49 assists to go for 53 points and six penalty minutes in his first season in Florida, making him the first defenseman since Red Kelly in the 1953-54 season to win the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct as well as a high level of playing ability.

Campbell completed a one-year job with Chicago as an unrestricted free agent, earning additional performance-related compensation as a result.

Campbell resigned on July 17, 2017, but also that he will join the Blackhawks' business operations department, where he will be involved with various marketing, community relations, and youth hockey programs.

After finding out from HR that her job had been terminated, the 28-year-old mother-to-be was left'surprised and angry.' Jonny Carruthers, her boss, later sent her a WhatsApp note, saying she had "no bad feelings." After suing school for failing to discourage students from racially insulting her, a teacher lost her case of discrimination

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 16, 2023
After claiming that bosses at Bertha Park High School (inset) in Perth, Scotland, refused to discourage students from racially insulting her in class, Rizwana Mallet-Ali (pictured) tries to sue Bertha Park High School (inset). Children regularly addressed her using the Jamaican greeting term 'wagwan,' she told a work tribunal. She also claimed she was mocked due to her skin color. Such abuse was so severe that she asked that retaliant offenders be barred or face police action as a result of 'hate crimes.' However, she was left fuming after school leaders took a "restorative approach" to each pupil, instead of giving them 'guidance.' She later resigned from teaching after falling ill with fear and then proceeded to sue the school for £20,000, a lawsuit that was dismissed by a judge.
