Robert Stanton Waterfield (July 26, 1920 – March 25, 1983) was an American football player and mentor as well as an American film actor and producer.
In 1965, he played quarterback for the UCLA Bruins and Cleveland/Los Angeles Rams, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Early years
In 1920, Waterfield, the son of Staton "Jack" Waterfield (1891-1930) and Frances (Gallagher) Waterfield (1895–1963), was born in Elmira, New York. His family immigrated to Los Angeles in 1921 and settled in Van Nuys, California. When Waterfield was nine years old, his father, who had been hired as the owner and manager of Van Nuys Transfer and Storage Company, died. He was a star footballer at Van Nuys High School and loved waterfield.
