Bob Turner Life

Robert L. Turner (born May 2, 1941) is an American businessman and politician who served as the United States Representative for New York's 9th congressional district in the United States' 112th Congress (which includes portions of Brooklyn and Queens) from 2011 to 2013.

He is a member of the Republican Party.

Turner was elected in September 2011 to finish the term of Democrat Anthony Weiner, who had resigned after allegations of improper conduct. Turner had been known as a media executive for his success in the television talk show segment of the market.

In the November 2010 election, six years after retiring from his corporate career, he stepped into politics to run against Weiner: losing by 36% of the vote.

He defeated Democrat David Weprin 52–47 in the special election for Weiner's seat in less than a year—the first Republican to represent the area since 1923.

Turner ran for the Senate in 2012, but was defeated in the primaries, after his district was disapproved in redistricting.

In 2015, Turner was elected chairman of the Queens County chapter of the Republican Party.

In 2017, he was ousted as chairman.

Now they're TARMACING our paved paradise to put up a 'parking lot': Fury at plans to dig up stones of historic market square to lay 'cheap' surface

eXCLUSIVE: When one section buckled down to create what locals call a 'tank trap,' the road was blocked entirely for emergency repairs. It is hoped that a £630,000 resurfacing scheme would finally get to work next year to permanently fix the roads around Ripon's Market Place East and Market Place West. Councillors in North Yorkshire have been asking for years for the faulty paving blocks to be removed and replaced with a tarmac surface. So far, the council has gotten by patching up the road, including the addition of replacement paving blocks and tarmac. However, investigations have revealed that the road's foundations were made of little more than sand.
