Business career
In the 19th century, Bhuramal Das Chaudhary's grandfather immigrated to Nepal from Rajasthan, India. He started a textile business at the age of 20. He was one of Nepal's first to start a legally registered clothing store a few years after the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake. Lunkaran Das Chaudhary's father continued to grow the textile industry, as well as established international trade houses and a construction company. Lunkaran Das Chaudhary founded Arun Emporium, a retail store that was his most profitable venture in 1968. Binod Chaudhary was planning to study chartered accountancy in India, but his father was diagnosed with heart disease, and the doctor told him he could not continue to run the family business. As the eldest son in the family's family, he stepped in as the company's boss. "My life was completely changed overnight," He told The Telegraph. I had no choice at all. But it has made me a tougher guy." In an interview with the Hong Kong Tatler, he also said, "I would have liked to research further but I was expected to do my jobs."
He considered importing Japanese Suzuki cars to Nepal first. "Suzuki did not trust me because I was a young clothes trader," he once said. I convinced them. They gave me a trial dealership with four others to sell Suzuki in Nepal. The dealership will be awarded to the one who sold the most cars in six months."
Copper Floor, his first independent venture, was established in 1973, a discothèque firm. The company was a huge success due to the many wealthy and influential people who visited the club. Chaudhary signed a 1979-to-date agreement with National Panasonic, Japan's first multinational contract.
The Chaudhary Group is a business group established by Lunkaran Das Chaudhary, the Chaudhary's grandfather. Wai Wai, a brand of instant noodles, was the company's best-selling product when it was introduced to Nepal in 1984. Chaudhary took over his family's business at the age of 23, and wrote "running that disco taught me a lot about business, but it wasn't until I took over Arun Emporium's family business that was losing its success and looking after family." After seeing many people from Thailand with packets of noodles, the idea to sell Wai Wai noodles came to Chaudhary. He knew there was a strong demand for Thai noodles in Nepal right away. He travelled to Thailand, where he visited Thai Preserved Food Factory Co. Ltd., the company that made Wai Wai noodles for Thailand. He wanted to work with the company, but the owner was not positive that the noodles would work due to Nepal's "poverty and poor infrastructure."
Chaudhary told Forbes India:
He showed Chaudhary how to make the noodles after seeing his enthusiasm. "I'm a big fan of Thailand and this company has given our group this kind of fame," he told the Bangkok Post.
According to Forbes, Chaudhary was ranked as Nepal's first billionaire in 2013. He is ranked No. 1,349 on Forbes' Billionaires of 2019 list as of March 2019. "I am humbled" after the apprehensions. You don't get a Nobel as a businessman. This is my Nobel Prize.... "I see this as a reward for the 40 years of my arduous work" for the 40 years of my "hard work." He was published in Forbes Asia on May 15, 2015. By 2018, his fortune had increased by $200 million. Since being included in the list, he said, "Forbes' Billionaire List is the result of four generations' blood and sweat." "I am proud to say that there are 7000 people associated with the Chaudhary Group (CG) in 19 countries."
