Early life
On April 10, 1969, Jayne was born in Flushing, New York City. He is of Jewish descent. On the set of That Certain Summer, he was visiting his older half-brother Scott Jacoby, for which Scott received an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Jayne was chosen and began his career as the director needed someone to portray Jacoby in flashbacks.
Although Jayne's birth name was not Jacoby, his mother thought it would be best if he used Jacoby, the last name of his now established half-brother. Billy Jacoby shortened his profession name to Billy Jayne to match his birth name at the age of 17.
Career
Jayne appeared on numerous television shows from the mid to late 1980s, including Trapper John, M.D. ; The Golden Girls as Blanche's 14-year-old rebellious grandson David; The A-Team; and 21 Jump Street. In Just One of the Guys from 1985, he is best known for his role as Buddy, Terri Terri's brother.
Jayne is best known for his role in Parker Lewis Can't Lose, a teen drama starring actor Corin Nemec. The show spanned 1990 to 1993. After the show ended, he had less roles in films including Renegade, Murder One (1995), Walker, Texas Ranger (1996), Charmed (1999), and Cold Case (2009).
