Bill O'Connell (born in New York City on August 22, 1953) is a jazz pianist and educator bandleader. * He is most associated with Latin jazz and also a hard bop. * He studied piano at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, but he has mainly lived in Long Island or Manhattan. * He teaches jazz piano at Mason Gross School for the Arts on Rutgers University's New Brunswick campus in New Jersey. * He has worked with Chet Baker and Sonny Rollins at various times in his career. He has worked and toured with Dave Valentin from 1982 to 2000.
