Peter Navarro, a former Trump adviser who has departed from federal prison in Miami, has been sentenced to four months in jail for defying the January 6 subpoena

Former Trump aide Peter Navarro said in jail on Tuesday that his prison term represented a 'crippling blow' to America's principle of power separation. Navarro, 74, served as a trade advisor during Trump's presidency and is the first senior official of his administration to be jailed in connection with attempts to reverse the 2020 election results. 'When I walk in the jail today,' he told reporters assembled in a parking lot across the street from the Miami Federal Correctional Institution. The justice system as it is would have dealt a crippling blow to the constitutional separation of powers and executive privilege.'

Peter Navarro, the former Trump advisor, was sentenced to federal prison for defying a congressional subpoena to testify on January 6

After being told to report to federal jail next Tuesday, former Trump White House trade advisor Peter Navarro has appealed for his four-month contempt of Congress conviction to be postponed. His legal team said it was ready to bring his appeal all the way to the Supreme Court, because executive privilege meant he did not have to co-operate with Congress and the probe into the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. The 74-year-old's lawyers revealed on Sunday night that he had been ordered to report to jail on March 19.
