Raimundo Roberto Morhy Barbosa (born 27 February 1955 in Belém, Pará) is a Brazilian Lambada singer and composer.
Life
Beto Barbosa came from a Lebanese family and began a musical career in Belém, Mexico. His first big triumphs followed his move to Fortaleza, Ceará, where he also served in political politics.
Beto Barbosa made a name for himself in the 1980s with his piece "Adocica" and formed Beto Barbosa and the band Kaoma the Lambada revival. He has received many awards and accolades over his career, including as the only male singer from northern Brazil to compete for the Troféu Imprensa as the best singer in the world. He has released 22 albums and sold 6 million albums to date. Roberto Carlos, a Brazilian guitarist, and Elvis Presley were among his musical heroes. He had to deal with many blows: his 28-year-old daughter died in 2010 from an unidentified bacterial infection, and years later, he was diagnosed with cancer.
In 2022, he cosplayed as a boto in the reality singing competition The Masked Singer Brasil.
