Bárbara Mori Ochoa (Spanish pronunciation: [ba]o otoa]) (born February 28, 1978) is a Mexican-born Mexican actress, model, and writer. She is best known for playing the main role in the 2004 telenovela Rubé, one of the oldest telenovelas of all time. She has appeared in many Hollywood and Bollywood films, including My Brother's Wife (2005), Violanchelo (2008), Insignificant Things (2008), Guillermo del Toro, Kites (2010), Cantinflas (2014), Treintona, soltera y fantástica (2016), since 2005.

Mori began acting as a fashion model at the age of 14, later becoming an actress on TV Azteca's smash hit Mirada De Mujer in 1997; then, she appeared in the soap opera Azul Tequila. She has also appeared in various lists as one of the most beautiful Mexican actresses of all time.

Personal life

Mori began a relationship with actor Sergio Mayer, with whom she has a son, Sergio Mayer Mori, who was born in 1998. Soon after, the two couples separated. Kenneth Ray Sigman, the brother of actress Stephanie Sigman, was married to her in 2016. In 2017, the couple divorced.

Mila, Mori's son's daughter, was born in November 2016, making her a grandmother at 38.

Life and career

Mori was born in Uruguay. Her paternal grandfather was a Japanese immigrant. Her mother is of Lebanese descent. Kenya Mori and Kintaró Mori, actress Kenya Mori, and Mori Mori are twins. Mori spent her early childhood in Mexico and Uruguay before arriving in Mexico City at the age of 12.

One day, when she was a waitress at the age of 14, fashion designer Marcos Toledo invited her to model. By the age of seventeen, she became a widow and moved with her cousins. Sergio Mayer, a ten-year-old actress who would later become the father of their son Sergio, was born in 1998. They never married.

El Centro de Formación Actoral was her first act as a performer. She made her acting debut in the Mexican telenovela Al norte del corazón. The following year, she appeared in the comedy series Tric Tac and Mirada de mujer. For her role in Mirada de mujer as Best New Actress, she received her first televisionyNovelas Award.

Mori played "Azul" in the series Azul Tequila in 1998, co-starring Mauricio Ochmann. Me muero por t in Miami, a year later, she starred Peruvian actor Christian Meier in a film Me muero por t. She appeared in numerous other telenovelas, including the Telemundo telenovela Amor descarado, later in life.

In 2001, she made her first film appearance in the romantic comedy Inspiración, a box-office hit in cinemas. In 2002, she was playing a seductive college student in the telenovela, Subete A Mi Moto.

Ruba, a smash TV-hit and highly rated Mexican soap opera, deserving her another TVyNovelas Award in 2004, she signed with Televisa and appeared as Rub, a smash TV-hit and highly rated Mexican soap opera.

Me muero por t t was a film she appeared in La mujer de mi hermano as Zoe in 2005, and her husband was played by Christian Meier, with whom she had previously co-starred in Me muero por t. She appeared in the Spanish-language version of the movie Robots for the second year.

She appeared in "Pretendiendo," a Chilean/Mexican-backed film that was also critically panned.

The actress appeared in Amor, Dolor y Viceversa, alongside Leonardo Sbaraglia in 2009, the tragedy is about a female architect who is involved in the murder of a young surgeon who was reportedly in her nightmares. Mori created the crime drama in Mexico City and produced it. Critics and viewers alike gave the film mixed feedback.

She was the principal protagonist in the action-drama "Vento Encounter" in 2011, alongside actors Héctor Arredondo and Fernando Luján, in which she played a leading and promising CIO who is unintentionally implicated in a police chase due to a financial scandal. Critical comments were mixed about Warner Bros' film, which attracted mixed reviews. The drama was shot on location in Mexico City and Valle de Bravo. Mori was the film's producer.

Rakesh Roshan, an Indian film producer, has landed her as the leading lady in his film Kites opposite his son, Bollywood actress Hrithik Roshan. It was shot in New Mexico, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles by the end of July 2008 and was released on May 21, 2010.

Mori was diagnosed with early stage cancer and is now a proud survivor. She explores her experience with UniGlobe Entertainment's docu-drama 1 a Minute made by actress Namrata Singh Gujral.
