On November 16, 2021, police searched Khan's home in Ealing, west London, and discovered messages sent from his iPhone to a group chat titled 'Salafiyyah'. The Old Bailey had a 12-inch machete with a nylon sheath and a brown wooden handle lying outside Khan's bed. The court heard a black flag emblazoned with a white religious script urging for Jihad that he had bought on Ebay.
