He started with Mississippi and batted.333 with six home runs and 20 RBIs in 27 games, and was promoted to the Gwinnett Stripers in May. With 12 home runs and 47 RBI, he achieved.282/.464/.810 in 75 games with Gwinnett. With Gwinnett, he began the 2019 season.

Riley was activated by the Atlanta Braves ahead of their game against the St. Louis Cardinals on May 15, 2019. Since Ender Inciarte was put on the injured list, Riley was promoted. In his second at bat, he made his major league debut that night and scored a home run off Michael Wacha. Riley's first grand slam in fourteen games and raising his RBI total to twenty in May 29, 2019. His seven home runs in fourteen games were his second most to begin a career, trailing only Trevor Story (Aristides Aquino has since passed them all with nine). He made his eighth home run in 16 games on June 1, his eighth home run in 16 games, making him the fourth player in major league baseball history to do so. He was also the fastest player in Braves franchise history to do so. Despite only playing in 15 games, Riley received the NL Rookie of the Month Award for May 2019.

Riley was put on the 10-day injured list due to a right knee injury, retroactive to August 5. Riley made a big change to his at bats this season, going 8-for-44 with no extra-base hits, and not to throw at the sliders that pitchers had used against him in previous years. Riley was promoted to cleanup hitter, where he helped the Braves return to the top of the NL East after batting in the back half of the lineup from late May.

He finished the 2021 season with.303 home runs (21st in the NL), 168 strikeouts (4th), and a.898 OPS, naming Eddie Mathews and Chipper Jones as the only Atlanta third basemen to reach.300 with at least 100 RBIs and 100 RBIs in a season, whether you're 18 years old or younger. The Ozzie Albies had similar numbers, and the pair became the fifth group of teammates to produce 100-RBI seasons at the age of 24 or younger. His 14 errors on defense were second-most among NL third basemen, while his 300 assists ranked first.

Riley hit his first walk-off in Game 1 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers on October 16, 2021, allowing Ozzie Albies to score and the Braves to win 32-02. Riley had 2 hits and 1 RBI in Game 6 to help the Braves close the series out. Riley's first World Series ring was earned by the Braves as they go on to win the 2021 World Series. Riley and three others (Freddie Freeman, Max Fried, and Ozzie Albies) received the Silver Slugger Awards for their respective positions after the season ended.

Riley was eligible for salary arbitration for the first time since the 2022 season. He had intended to make $4.25 million but was instead given $3.95 million. For the first time in his career, Riley received Player of the Week awards on July 11, 2022. Riley was named in the MLB All Star Team on July 16 as a health substitute for Nolan Arenado. In July, Riley set a franchise record by hitting 26 more base hits. He received the NL Player of the Month award for July 2022, the first such award in his career. Riley had been signed to a ten-year contract extension, worth $212 million, according to the Braves on August 1. The deal is the longest in team history, outstripping the length and total value of an agreement signed by teammate Matt Olson before the 2022 season began. Riley ran his thirtieth home run on August 9, beating Hank Aaron 111 games to tie for the most franchise players to reach triples and thirty home runs in the same season.
