The Wing was founded by Audrey Gelman (inset) and Lauren Kassan in New York City in 2016 as a women's only coworking space and social club. The company had nearly a dozen locations, including those in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago, at the height of its popularity. The Wing has been accused of unethical and racial treatment of its workers over the past few years, which culminated in Gelman's resignation in June 2020. Members learned that the six remaining locations that survived the pandemic were shut down immediately (right). According to the letter, the company was'unable to recover' in the aftermath of the 'Covid pandemic and rising global economic challenges.'
