Archie Clark Life

Archie L. Clark (born July 15, 1941) is a retired American professional basketball player. He was a guard for five National Basketball Association (NBA) teams at 6'2" heights. Clark, a native of Conway, Arkansas, grew up in Detroit's suburbs and joined the United States Army after high school. * While working with an intramural basketball team at Andrews Air Force Base, he was spotted by a scout from University of Minnesota and immediately accepted a scholarship to play for John Kundla. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the fourth round of the 1966 NBA draft after a solid academic career that included an All Big Ten selection as a senior. Clark played for the Philadelphia 76ers, the Baltimore/Capital Bullets, the Seattle SuperSonics, and the Detroit Pistons from 1984-1966-1976. Clark was a member of the Clark trade in 1968 (along with Darrall Imhoff and Jerry Chambers) that brought Wilt Chamberlain to the Lakers. In two National Basketball Association All-Star Games, he averaged 16.3 career points and 4.8 career assists, as well as two national basketball Association All-Star Games; in 1972, he earned All-NBA Second Team honors. Clark was one of the first true practitioners of the crossover dribble, which inspired his nickname "Shake and Bake." Clark unsuccessfully ran for Mayor of Ecorse, Michigan, in 1987. * With Dave DeBusschere, Dave Bing, Dave Cowens, and Oscar Robertson, he co-founded the National Basketball Retired Players Association in 1992.

Chaos as masked men drive two cars - including a HEARSE - onto a football pitch in Gateshead during a game before abandoning the funeral car and sparking panic in the stands

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 21, 2023
An incident at a Gateshead pre-season friendly against Dunston, which was called off at halftime after a hearse was left in the middle of the pitch. One onlooker caught the strange moment on pitch when the players were stunned by the drama. The hearse had been pushed onto the pitch at Dunston's UTS Stadium along with a second vehicle, with both vehicles spinning around in circles while leaflets were thrown from the windows in apparent indignation.
