Arabella Goddard Life

Arabella Goddard (12 January 1836-1862) was an English pianist from the mid-19th century to France.

Thomas Goddard, the heir to a Salisbury cutlery company, and Arabella née Ingles were two of an English family of expatriates living in Saint-Servan, Brittany.

She remained steadfast in her French roots throughout her life, and she infused her conversation with French words.

Ann was her older sister. She was taken to Paris at the age of six to study with Friedrich Kalkbrenner.

She was feted as a child prodigy and appeared for the French Royal Family, Frédéric Chopin, and George Sand (she would later play for Queen Victoria).

Arabella had more lessons with Lucy Anderson and Sigismond Thalberg during the 1848 Revolution and was forced to return to England; here, she had more lessons with Lucy Anderson and Sigismond Thalberg.
