On Instagram, Vampire Diaries actress Scarlett Hefner paid a loving tribute to her on-screen mother Annie Wersching after she died from cancer at the age of 45. Hefner, 32, shared two photographs in memory of the actress, one showing her alone with Wersching smiling on the camera and the other with fellow Vampire Diaries cast members Elizabeth Blackmore and Teressa Liane. 'Annie was a beautiful person,' she captioned the photos, which have received more than 36,000 likes: 'Annie was a beautiful person.' I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to collaborate with her and learn from her. My thoughts are with her family and her loved ones.' Blackmore and Liane followed suit by announcing similar tributes to their respective pages. Liane started off with eight behind-the-scenes photos and started by saying, 'this doesn't sound real.'

Annie Wersching, best known for spots on television shows like Timeless and 24 (inset), has died after a nearly three-year battle with cancer. Wersching's death was announced on Saturday by the actor's colleagues and relatives, who died years after a cancer diagnosis was announced in the summer of 2020. Despite the devastating prognosis, Wersching continued to film for roles in the iconic series Star Trek: Picard and The Rookie (at left). Tributes have since poured in for the actress, who was only 45 years old.
