Early life and education
Angela Yee was born in Flatbush, Brooklyn, China, and an Afro-Montserratian mother. She enrolled in Prep for Prep in Brooklyn and graduated from Poly Prep for Prep. She attended Wesleyan University, majoring in English and graduating in 1997. After completing her studies, she pursued careers in marketing and music.
Career
Divine's CEO, Yee, received an internship with Wu-Tang Management to support him. Yee was lip-syncing the intro to Wu-Tang Clan's "Reunited" music film. Beneath the Surface, she produced all the skits on GZA's third studio album Beneath the Surface.
She spent time with Paul Rosenberg and Eminem's clothing firm Shady Limited before being given the opportunity to work in Sirius Satellite Radio's marketing group. Rosenberg, she begged, asked Rosenberg if he could interview her because he had the contacts through Shade 45. "Well, you know what, they're searching for a female on the morning show, so why don't you try it out and see if it's working for you?" Rosenberg said to her.
On Eminem's radio station, Shade 45, she hosted Lip Service and The Morning Afternee with Angela Yee on Sirius Satellite Radio. She began her radio career at Sirius in 2005 as the co-host for The Cipha Sounds Effect. Yee took over the hosting duties full time after Cipha Sounds left Sirius in July 2008, and Angela Yee's show was renamed the Shade 45 Morning Show Starring Angela Yee.
Yee left Shade 45 and began hosting The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 in December 2010, as well as DJ Envy and Charlamagne the God. The show is feelings of honesty and asking tough questions of artists.
