Andrew Peter Allen (born 30 April 1988) is an Australian chef best known for winning the fourth season of MasterChef Australia in 2012.

Allen was an electrician before winning MasterChef.

Personal life

Allen was formerly an electrician by trade. He is also a basketball player for the Maitland Mustangs. He also agreed to work on extensions to his local basketball stadium.

Allen's father, Peter, is a teacher at Bolwarra Public School and was also the primary cricket convenor for the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association.

Career

Allen has pursued a career in Hospitality and now co-owns Three Blue Ducks, which has five locations around Australia, including Bronte, Rosebery, and Byron Bay, as well as Brisbane and Melbourne. Allen was the first MasterChef Australia contestant to be given the highly coveted award in 2018.

He appeared in 2021 as a co-host in Three Blue Ducks, a cooking show based on travelling around Australia, to inspire new dishes that would not be available on the permanent restaurant menu.

MasterChef Australia winner Nat Thaipun has hit back at claims the show's judges were unnecessarily harsh on her through the series.  The Victorian barista, 28, who won the gruelling cooking competition on Tuesday, said she appreciated the judges strict critiques as it helped her push herself. 'It's actually really funny because so many people were messaging me telling me that the judges were a little bit too harsh on me,' she told Yahoo Lifestyle.
