Andrew Newell Wyeth (WY-eth), primarily a realist painter, worked mainly in a regionalist style, died on July 12, 1917 – January 16, 2009. * He was one of the best-known American artists of the middle 20th century. Wyeth's most popular subjects in his art were the land and people around him, both in his hometown of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, and his summer home in Cushing, Maine. "I paint my life," Wyeth often said. Christina's World, one of the best-known works of twentieth-century American art, is on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
