Andy Hill (pictured), 60, has lost his appeal against the Civil Aviation Authority decision to revoke his pilot licences. Hill appealed the decision to revoke his private and commercial flying licences during a two-day hearing in London. The CAA said: 'Following a public hearing on a challenge by Andrew Hill to a UK Civil Aviation Authority proposal to revoke his pilot and flight radio telephony licences, the Civil Aviation Authority's decision panel has confirmed that proposal and Andrew Hill's licences will now formally be revoked. Following the crash at the Shoreham Airshow in 2015 in which 11 people died, Andrew Hill's licences were suspended, and he has been unable to fly in the UK since then. The thoughts of everyone at the UK Civil Aviation Authority remain with those affected by the tragic crash.'

Lawyers for former RAF and BA pilot Andrew Hill today suggested the Civil Aviation Authority took the decision to stop him flying based on public reaction to the 2015 tragedy, an appeal panel heard today. His attempt to win back his pilot's licence has prompted outrage from victims' families, who say he does not deserve to fly again. Mr Hill, a former British Airways captain, nearly died at the side of the road after the Hawker Hunter he was flying crashed into a fireball on to the A27 in West Sussex in August 201. A panel at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London today began hearing his legal team argue his licence, which is currently suspended, should be reinstated.

Hill, a former British Airways captain, nearly died at the side of the road after the Hawker Hunter he was flying crashed into a fireball on to the A27 in West Sussex. He will appear in front of a panel today to say his licence, which is currently suspended, should be reinstated. The former pilot suffered serious injuries in the crash, including several broken bones and a collapsed lung, and was placed into an induced coma. Relatives of the 11 men said they were furious at the prospect he could fly again. Caroline Schilt's son Jacob, 23, was killed on his way to football. Mrs Schilt said: 'We are furious that he even wants his license back and considering his defence at the trial it is sheer arrogance that he thinks he deserves it.'
