Amy Beth Dziewiontkowski (born November 30, 1969), also known as Amy Ryan, is an American actress of stage and film.
She is a graduate of New York's High School of Performing Arts and two-time Tony Award nominee. Ryan began her stage career in 1987 and made her Broadway debut in 1993 as a replacement in The Sisters Rosensweig's original production.
She went on to receive Tony Award nominations for Best Featured Actress in a Play for Uncle Vanya's 2000 revival and 2005's revival of A Streetcar Named Desire.
Helene McCready was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 2007 film Gone Baby Gone.

Early life
Ryan was born Amy Beth Dziewiontkowski of Flushing, Queens, the niece of Pamela (née Ryan), a nurse), and John Dziewiontkowski, a trucking company owner. She is of Polish, Irish, and English descent. Ryan and her sister Laura contributed the Daily News by bicycle while growing up in the 1970s. Ryan attended the Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Center in upstate New York at a young age. She graduated from the High School of Performing Arts in New York at the age of 17. Ryan, who was recruited right out of high school for the national tour of Biloxi Blues, spent his entire career off-Broadway for the next decade. She picked her mother's maiden name as her stage name.

Career
Ryan appeared in A Shayna Maidel, a Westside Theatre production from 1987, playing Hanna. In the following year, she appeared in The Rimers of Eldritch, the Second Stage Theatre Company's revival. As Bees In Honey Drown, Crimes of the Heart, and Saved are among the many off-Broadway credits. She also worked in regional theater, where she appeared in new plays by Neil LaBute, Arthur Miller, and Neil Simon. She has appeared in The Sisters Rosensweig, Natasha, 1997 revival of The Women, and Peggy in the 2001–2002 revival of The Women on Broadway.
In 2000 and 2005, Ryan was nominated for the Best Achievement by a Featured Actress in a Play, as she appeared as Sonya Alexandrovna in Uncle Vanya and in 2005, she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress opposite John C. Reilly in A Streetcar Named Desire.
