Amber Leann Portwood (born May 14, 1990) is a television presenter on American reality television.

She came from Anderson, Indiana, after being cast in the reality television series 16 and Pregnant, which chronicled the births and first months of motherhood for several teenage girls.

She appeared in all of the series's four seasons before its conclusion in 2012.

Portwood, along with Maci McKinney, Catelynn Baltierra, and Farrah Abraham, returned to MTV in March 2015 for the fifth season of the show.

Personal life

Amber Leann Portwood is the niece of Tonya and Shawn Edwin Portwood Sr. (1964-1994). She has a brother, Shawn Edwin Portwood Jr., a United States Army veteran, and a sister, Candace Portwood (1995–1996), who died in infancy. After her mother's mother began having an affair, Portwood told the world that she had been neglected by her mother in her early teens. She attended Anderson High School but was forced to leave due to pregnancy.

Portwood was pregnant by her then-boyfriend Gary Shirley in 2008 and then gave birth to their daughter, Leah Leann Shirley, at the age of 18. Portwood and Shirley were involved for a time, but then broke apart, with Shirley Leah being granted complete custody of Leah in December 2011. Kristina Shirley (née Tinch, formerly Anderson), by whom he has a daughter Emilee Grace Shirley and became a police officer, she became a police officer.

Portwood was engaged to Matt Baier, an amateur DJ who she met on Twitter from 2014 to 2017.

Portwood's mother, Andrew Glennon, died prematurely in 2017 and Portwood's son, James Andrew Glennon, was born on May 8, 2018.

Portwood has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder.
