Amanda Freitag (born May 11, 1972) is a New York chef and regular celebrity on the Food Network television show.

Early life and education
Friday was raised in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. She attended Cedar Grove High School, later known as Memorial High School, where her home economics instructor, Joan Levine, suggested that Freitag attend the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). Freitag started CIA at the Hyde Park location in 1989, completing in 1989.
Restaurant career
Following his graduation in 1989, Freitag took up a job at Vong New York under chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. She went from Vong to cook at Verbena in 1994 under chef Diane Forley. Freitag has said that her stay in Verbena was enriching and that she established important relationships, and that she first learned to concentrate on using local, organic ingredients. After Verbena, Freitag travelled to France and Italy, where she spent a short time at L'Arpège restaurant under chef Alain Passard in 1999.
Godfrey Polistina, a restaurateur from Freitag, opened Cesca Enoteca & Trattoria on the Upper West Side in 2003. Freitag worked at Cesca as a chef de cuisine before being moved to a executive chef at The Harrison. Freitag will be leaving the Harrison, according to the restaurant's owner, Jimmy Bradley, who will return as chef on September 3, 2010.
Freitag took over as executive chef of the Empire Diner in Manhattan, New York, from January 2014 to July 2015.
The bistro Rise & Thyme in Dallas, Texas, was opened in September by Freitag and Kevin Lillis' Hospitality Alliance in September.
