Early life
Gonino was born in 1990 and grew up in Rockwall, Texas. Dr. John and Linda Gonino, who own and operate the Gonino Center for Healing in Heath, Texas, are her parents. She began classical violin lessons at the age of seven, as well as classical ballet lessons. She would appear at many of the country music oprys in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including singing, yodeling, and playing fiddle, as well as mandolin. Gonino became interested in musical theater during her high school days. She dropped out of high school to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music and acting one month into her second year. She got her GED at sixteen years old.
Career
Gonino guest appeared on the television series Unfabulous, Cory, Lie to Me, and She's been in the ABC Family's series 10 Things I Hate About You from her start as an actress. Gonino joined the Stunners, a girl group formed by recording artist Vitamin C. In summer 2010, the Stunners embarked on a 20-date tour as the opening act for Justin Bieber on My World Tour. The company has since been disbanded.
In the ABC Family's 2011–2013 The Lying Game, Gonino co-starred as Laurel Mercer. Gonino was also featured in a 2012 Boys Like Girls music video as the female lead for "Be Your Everything." Meaghan Martin, co-starring her 10 Things I Hate About You castmate Meaghan Martin, appeared in the film Geography Club in 2012. She was selected to appear in the comedy-drama film See You in Vaina with Sarah Hyland in 2013. In 2014, Gonino appeared in a major role on the Sundance Channel drama The Red Road. Sam was initially cast in the recurring role on Freeform's Baby Daddy's fifth season in 2015, but she was later replaced by Daniella Monet in the role.
Gonino introduced the EP Hollywood High, which also includes the single "Vamp" in 2015.
