Allan Hawco Life

Allan Hawco (born July 28, 1977) is a Canadian actor and producer best known for his appearances in ZOS: The Zone of Separation, Republic of Doyle, and The Book of Negroes, as well as the television films H2O and The Trojan Horse.

Early and personal life

Hawco was born on Bell Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, as the youngest of four children and migrated to Goulds at an early age. Michael's father was a Bell Island Ferry employee, and his mother Mary was an elementary school coach and former nun. He studied economics at Memorial University of Newfoundland, but he dropped out in favour of the National Theatre School of Canada. One of his brothers is a composer and has written for the Republic of Doyle, while his father has also appeared on the show and his mother has appeared as a background performer. Hawco is the youngest of four children in the United States, as well as two older siblings.

Carolyn Stokes, a CBC anchor, was married in 2012 in the middle of a lifetime of serving in the Republic of Doyle.

Career

Hawco's first appearance was in the Shakespeare by the Sea production of Macbeth, which was directed by Aiden Flynn. From there, director Danielle Irvine encouraged the young actor to audition for the National Theatre School, where he was one of 13 people selected from thousands of applicants this year.

Hawco performed in several of Canada's major theatres since graduating from the National Theatre School of Canada in 2000. He founded Company Theatre with Philip Riccio in 2005, inspired by the desire for greater creative control. Hawco's debut, A Whistle in the Dark, earned the company critical acclaim. Festen's 2009 work earned him three Dora Awards, one for Outstanding Production of a Play.

Making Love in Saint Pierre, Above and Beyond, and Love and Savagery are three of Hawco's early film appearances, the first of which earned him an ACTRA nomination for Outstanding Male Performance. Republic of Doyle, his own television series that premiered in 2010, was a hit on his career. Hawco co-creates with Perry Chafe and Malcolm MacRury, executive producer, lead actor, and showrunner as well as the show's showrunner. The show has been broadcast in over 90 countries and has attracted over a million viewers a week on CBC television in Canada.

In 2010, Hawco was nominated for the ACTRA Toronto Young Achievement – Male for his role in Love and Savagery. He was also nominated for two Gemini Awards, Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role and Best Dramatic Series for his role as actor, co-creator, and executive producer of Republic of Doyle.

In 2011, Hawco was the recipient of the prestigious Gascon-Thomas Award at the National Theatre School.

Also in 2011, Hawco was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Canadian Film and Television Hall of Fame.

The Netflix original series Frontier, starring Jason Momoa, was produced by Hawco's production firm in Newfoundland in 2016. In addition to being an executive producer on the show, Hawco appears in the series as well as serving as an executive producer on the program.

In 2018, Hawco served as executive producer, writer/showrunner, and actor in Lisa Moore's Caught CBC adaptation. A number of CSA awards, including best series and a best actor nod for Hawco were given to the series. Perry Chafe, John Kirzanc, Julia Cohan, and Adriana Maggs are among Hawco's other screen writers. According to Hawco's interview, eOne entertainment is the product of the limited series, and Tecca Crosby, the inspiration behind the production of the limited series, is Tecca Crosby.

In 2019, Hawco appeared in "Coyote" in the Amazon Prime TV series Jack Ryan, alongside John Krasinski and Wendell Pierce. Jack Ryan was written by Lost creator Carlton Cuse. Filming took place in Colombia. Captain Donovan appeared in the British-Canadian suspense drama Departure in 2019.
