Alex Brooker Life

Alexander James Brooker (born 15 May 1984) is an English journalist, host, and comedian best known for his television appearances with Channel 4. Since 2012, Brooker has co-hosted The Last Leg, a Channel 4 panel show starring Adam Hills and Josh Widdicombe, as well as co-presenting Channel 4's ski jumping show The Jump with Davina McCall in 2014.

He began presenting The Superhumans Show on Channel 4 in 2016. Brooker joined the Leeds Rhinos' Foundation PDRL (Physical Disability Rugby League) team in February 2018.

Personal life

Brooker was born in Croydon. He was born with hand and arm differences as well as a twisted right leg, which had to be amputated as a child. He now has a prosthetic leg.

Brooker married accountant Lynsey in 2014, and the couple have two children.

Brooker, a supporter of Arsenal F.C., appears on the Footballistically Arsenal podcast on a regular basis.

Brooker fronted a campaign named "End The Awkward" by disability charity Scope in May 2014, which used comedies to shed a light on the stigma surrounding disability for many people. Brooker appeared in three commercials directing viewers through difficult situations they might encounter with a disabled individual.

Brooker won The Million Pound Drop Live with Josh Widdicombe for Echoes Foundation, Scope Joseph's Goal, in September 2012.

Brooker is the official ambassador of the UK-based charity Legs4Africa.

Career

Brooker attended the Norton Knatchbull School in Ashford, Kent, before graduating from Liverpool John Moores University in 2006 and serving as a sports reporter on the Liverpool Echo. He now works for the Press Association.

In 2012, Brooker entered Channel 4's Half a Million Quid Talent Search, which sought to find disabled people for coverage of the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games and beyond. On Channel 4's coverage of the 2011 BT Paralympic World Cup, he began as a trackside reporter. During the 2012 Summer Paralympics opening ceremony, Brooker compared Boris Johnson and David Cameron as a co-host on The Last Leg with Adam Hills, a nightly alternative view of the Games. Brooker appeared on The Last Leg of the Year, an end-of-year celebration with Adam Hills and Josh Widdicombe.

Brooker has been a co-host on Channel 4's Last Leg since January 25, 2013. Nick Clegg was interviewed by Brooker in February 2015 for the programme, and political journalist Hugo Rifkind called his appearance "a model of how to talk normally to a politician and make them talk normally back."

Alex Brooker: My Perfect Body, a one-off documentary about body image on Channel 4, was released on August 1st.

Brooker co-anchored the first series of celebrity reality shows The Jump on Channel 4 opposite Davina McCall in January and February 2014. The series was streamed live from a mountainside in Austria for ten nights. However, Brooker did not return for the second series in 2015. On Channel 4, he opened The Superhuman Show in 2016.
