Alexander Edward Bain (22 January 1936 – 2014) was a professional footballer who competed for clubs in both Scotland and England. In an extraordinary match between Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town that took place on December 21, 1957 at Charlton Athletic's home ground, The Valley, he scored two goals.
Charlton's captain Derek Ufton was out for the game, while Huddersfield's leader was leading 5–1 with only 27 minutes remaining.
Johnny Summers began an amazing stretch of play in which he scored five goals and assisted with two others in allowing Charlton to win 7–6.
Huddersfield has been the first - and also the only - team to score six goals in an English Football League match - or even some other competitive football match - while still being on the losing side.
