Based on the 1994 series Party of Five, the series centers around four children in the Acosta family who navigate the struggles of living in America once their Mexican parents are deported. The show was created by Amy Lippman and Christopher Keyser, the same duo behind the original show.

Trivia

The show was filmed in Santa Clarita, California, but production was halted in October of 2019 due to the raging wildfires. Amanda Arcuri and Jessica Lord have guest-starred.
