He is a member of the Japanese national volleyball team.

Career
Yanagida started playing volleyball at 7 years old, under the guidance of his parents. His school competed in the 41st Spring High Tournament while attending Toyo High School in 2010. As the captain, he led his team to victory in the championships.
He joined Keio University in the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies in 2011.
In 2013, he was registered as a member of Japan's national volleyball team. It was confirmed in October that he would debut with the Suntory Sunbirds in the V.League (Japanese Volleyball League). On March 14, 2015, he made his debut by playing in the final 6 matches against the Panasonic Panthers.
Yanagida will leave the team at the Kurowashiki All Japan Volleyball Tournament and relocate abroad as a professional contract player, according to the Suntory Sunbirds on April 24th.
He revealed on June 21, 2017 that he would play in Deutsche Volleyball-Bundesliga to Volleyball Bisons Buhl in Germany. He also signed a deal with Amuse Inc. He has also signed a Asics deal.
He became the captain of the Japan national volleyball team on April 10th, 2018 until 2020.
He continued his Asics employment until 31 March 2021 on June 8, 2018.
He revealed on social media on July 26, 2018 that he would be signing a one-year deal with Cuprum Lubin for his first appearance in the Polish volleyball league, PlusLiga.
In the German Bundesliga, a deal was signed on May 22nd.
He became a special advisor to the body care company "Doctor Air" on March 2, 2020.
On June 1, 2020, he announced his return to the Japanese V-League through his old team, the Suntory Sunbirds. He recalled his Suntory contract once more on June 7, 2021.
