Yael Naim Career

Life and career

Yael Naim was born in Paris, France, to Maghrebi Jewish immigrants from Tunisia. She and her family migrated to Ramat HaSharon, Israel, where she spent the remainder of her childhood. She served in Israel Defense Forces as a soloist in the Israeli Air Force Orchestra.

She began her singing career with her debut in Les Dix Commandements and her first solo album, In a Man's Womb (recorded in Los Angeles with Kamil Rustam), in 2001. For the film Harrison's Flowers, she performed Bruno Coulais' "You Disappear" also. She was simply named Yael in her early career. "Mashmauyot" was also performed by the singer during a duet with Din Din Aviv. Her version of "Toxic" by Britney Spears also attracted a lot of attention.

Naim met with percussionist David Donatien and together developed thirteen of Naim's songs in a studio in Paris over a two-year period. Yael Naim, her second album, was unveiled on the Tôt ou tard label on October 22, 2007. The songs are available in French, English, and Hebrew, and they have received critical acclaim. At No. 1, the album debuted at No. 1 on the French album chart. The week after its introduction, 11 people have been killed. Her style has been characterized as a blend of folk and a hint of jazz, with a slew of mysterious and evocative words sung with a delicate and husky voice.

In January 2008, Apple's first commercial for the MacBook Air laptop featured her song "New Soul." For the debut of the laptop line, Steve Jobs himself selected the song. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first week in February 2008, at No. 16 in the United States, owing to strong digital sales. 9, making her the first Israeli solo artist to ever have a top ten hit in the United States, and Naim's first top ten single. "New Soul" took the top spot in the rankings. This week is week 7 in the United States. The song appeared on the soundtrack to The House Bunny and Wild Target. In November 2010, her third album was released. "Go to the River" was the first single from this new album.

In 2016, she received her second Female Artist of the Year award at Victoires de la Musique, the French equivalent of the Grammy Awards. In 2011, she received the award for the first time.
