Early career

In 1994, Yadhira Carrillo, Mexico's state qualifier for the national Nuestra Belleza México, was selected by Nuestra Belleza Aguascalientes to select Mexico's contestant for the Miss Universe 1995 championship. Carrillo was runner-up at the Nuestra Belleza México 1994.

Carrillo then attended Centro de Educación Artistica (CEA), preparing for a career in the performing arts.

Acting career

Producer Carla Estrada gave Carrillo the supporting role in the telenovela Te Sigo Amando after a "extraordinary appearance" in the telenovela Canción de amor. (I still love you). She appeared with Estrada in Mara Isabel again, playing Josefina. She appeared in many episodes of Mujer, casos de la vida true, and playing a villain in the TV-special Mas allá de la Usurpadora's inaugural El Nio del mar (The Boy Who Came From The Sea).

In El precio de tu amor (The Price of Your Love), producer Ernesto Alonso recruited Carrillo for the role of the villain. This was followed by a duo-role in the 2002 telenovela La Otra (The Other Woman), in which she played two characters; Carlota Guillen, a good natured daughter who is assaulted, murdered, and manipulated by her mother; and Cordelia Portugal, a manipulative gold digger.

Carrillo appeared in El Secreto (The Secret), a Spanish telenovela in which she plays a perverse ex fiancée of the protagonist, played by fellow Mexican actor Eduardo Capetillo. Carrillo was the protagonist in Amarte es mi Pecado (Life You is My Sin) in 2004, but she also appeared in Rubin as Elena Navarro in Amarte es mi Pecado. Barrera de Amor (Barrier of Love) starred her in 2005.

Carrillo resigned from acting in 2008.
