BOYGEORGE: I knew I was gay by the time I was six years old, as did everyone else. Despite being mocked for being eminate and pretty, I never really wished I was straight. Of course, I knew I had to keep it private. A poofter was the worst thing you could have been at school. And the instructors were homophobic. 'Pick your legs up, lassie,' my gym instructor, Mr McIntyre, would yell: "Pick your legs up, lassie.' I was in the 1970s, and there was a sense that I should get to my gay business over there in the corner rather than worry about it. It was never going to be a success for me. I went to Sunday School in one of Mum's hats as a child. One of her friends called and said: 'Do you know what he's wearing?'

Among the many performances and unexpected moments in Windsor Castle's Coronation Concert on Sunday were none more striking than the sight of Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh dancing alongside Lionel Ritchie. And the real surprise? She could really move, receiving adoration from viewers and royal followers who took to Twitter in astonishment. I've never wanted to party with a Princess more,' wrote one.' We've all seen the Windsors dance before, of course, because it's not unprecedented for members of the Royal Family to be led to the dance floor for a regal boogie. However, although late Queen Elizabeth was known as a good dancer, some of the younger generation have shone more brilliantly than others. Here are some of the other show-stopping moments in which the royals decided to cut some shapes. For better and worse, there is both good and bad news.

Stephen Beagley, a disgraced dancer who performed with Freddie Mercury, Joan Collins, and Wayne Sleep, was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2019 after a court heard harrowing facts of his years of abuse. After a judge described how his callous and selfish behavior had robbed a teenage woman of her childhood, Beagley's sentence was extended to five years. After learning about her kidnapping in the media, his fourth survivor, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, decided to enter a new lawsuit. Following her decision to promote the lawsuit, Honour Judge Stephen Mooney said the woman had been in therapy. 'She had to deal with a reluctance to have children for fear of sharing the same fate as her.' According to the judge, Beagley had groomed her in a gross misuse of trust aimed at a vulnerable child. Beagley, who appeared on HMP Bure's video, was first convicted while coping with the sudden death of a friend in 2010 when she was just 11 years old.

On BBC Radio 3's Private Passions, the choreographer (right), 74, who hails from Plymouth, discussed his relationship with the mother-of-two. At a charity gala at the Royal Opera House in London in 1985, the pair did a routine to Billy Joel's Uptown Girl to celebrate King Charles' 37th birthday (left). Wayne says he kept in touch with Princess Diana long after they appeared and boasted about her 'wittiness' after establishing a friendship during rehearsals. 'If we saw each other again, the shoes came off at my apartment, she'd do the dishes, it'd be fun and we'd giggle,' he told host Michael Berkeley.'

When the last series of The Crown was shown, there was no shortage of critics, but dancer Wayne Sleep is confident that the late Princess of Wales' depiction of her life and marriage would have reacted angrily. "Diana would have absolutely adored it," he says. It spares nobody! Everybody has their wickets.' In Season 4, Sleep's 1985 dance to Uptown Girls with Princess Diana was recreated, with Jay Webb playing the flamboyant star who accompanied the Princess (Emma Corrin) for her surprise appearance at the Royal Opera House.
