Jim Beard, a musician known for his work with Steely Dan, has died at the age of 63, according to reports. Deadline reports that the composer and producer died in a hospital in New York City on Saturday, March 2nd, from sudden illness. Beard had been a member of Steely Dan since 2008 and had recently traveled with the Eagles for their Long Goodbye tour.

Wayne Shorter, an American saxophonist who produced some of jazz's best-known compositions and whose often sarcastic performances changed the tone of jazz in the 1960s and fusion's, died on Thursday at the age of 89. Alisse Kingsley, the shorter's publicist, reported his death to the New York Times and the Washington Post, but without citing a cause. Kingsley did not respond immediately to a call for clarification.
