Ticket-holders from far and wide gathered for hours in the beating sun before the Eurovision Village on the historic Pier Head opening to the public today. As the stewards cut the barriers, fans dressed as Ukrainian musicians Verka Serduchka and Kalush Orchestra and families in Union flag outfits erupted. When the grand finals airs at 8 p.m. on the big screens, some of them went straight to the stage to claim a prime location for the performances.
