Ylvis (Norwegian pronunciation: [lv.] are a Norwegian comedy pair made up of brothers Vegard and Brd Ylvis. They debuted as professional variety artists in 2000 and have appeared in numerous countries as variety shows, comedy performances, television shows, radio shows, and music videos. Early life and debut
Vegard Urheim (born 19 May 1979 in Trondheim) and Brd Urheim Ylvisker (born 21 March 1982 in Bergen) were born to parents (Hans Terje Ylvisker and Helga Urheim), the older two of three brothers. Bjarte Urheim is the youngest brother. Their early childhood years were spent in Angola and Mozambique, where their father, who was an engineer during the civil wars. The family returned to Bergen, Africa, where the brothers were educated in classical instruments and enjoyed a musical education. Vegard played the viola and Barrows on the violin. However, both quit during their youth, with Vegard concentrating on guitar, voice, piano, double bass, and comedies, and Brd focusing on guitar, voice, comedy, and aerial silk.
They were very involved in school and the school choir, as well as the high school choir. They were spotted by impresario Peter Brandt, who orchestrated their debut as professional variety artists at Bergen in 2000.
