There was a moment towards the end of Real Madrid's match at Real Mallorca on Sunday evening that illustrated where football is heading right now.
Having seen Rodrygo's early opener cancelled out by Vedat Muriqi's thunderous header, Carlo Ancelotti's side pressed for the goal which would silence the crowd inside Son Moix and ensure their La Liga defence got off to the perfect start.
Los Blancos enjoyed plenty of the ball as the clock ticked down, but the winner which would once have felt inevitable never came close to materialising.
Jude Bellingham tells Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr where they went wrong in Real Madrid's surprise 1-1 draw with Mallorca... moaning to the superstar pair that 'running back is f***ing hard'

Footage of Jude Bellingham telling Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr where they went wrong against Mallorca has been shared online following Real Madrid's disappointing 1-1 draw on Sunday. Rodrygo, who joined Madrid's star trio for the post-match chat, initially fired Real Madrid ahead in the 13th minute before Mallorca equalised through Vedat Muriqi shortly after half time. Despite pushing for a winner, Los Blancos struggled to break the hosts down and were reduced to ten men deep into stoppage time after Ferland Mendy was given his marching orders.
After beating heartbroken Mallorca on penalty shootout, Athletic Bilbao clinched Copa del Rey glory and snapped their 40-YEAR trophy drought

PETE JENSON OF SEVILLE: After an exhausting 120 minutes against vain Mallorca, Athletic Bilbao claimed their first Spanish Cup in 40 years in a penalty shoot-out. Mallorcan players applauded the game as it went to penalties. They had battled for so long and now they believed they were spot-kicks, but they were wrong. Vedat Muriqi scored for them. He, for one, did not want to be on the losing side. Raul Garcia was not rated for Athletic. But, Manu Morlanes' kick was saved by Julen Agirrezabala, and Athletic never lost the advantage. Iker Muniain scored. Nemanja Radonjic's kick was missed. Mikel Vesga collapsed, but his shot was off target at the back of the net. Antonio Sanchez saved Mallorca by scoring. But Alex Berenguer buried his cup, and Athletic's was an honor.
