Clement insists Hagi tackle was just 'clumsy' after Romanian is sent off on his Rangers comeback

Philippe Clement has blamed ring rust for comeback man Ianis Hagi's red card against St Johnstone.
The midfielder, who hadn't featured in a Rangers match squad since August last year, was sent packing 35 minutes after he came off the bench in a 2-0 win at Ibrox. Providing an assist for Vaclav Cerny's second goal of the night, the Romanian international then saw red when he lunged into a reckless challenge on striker Benjamin Kimpioka.
Clement admitted the officials got it right when they upgraded the initial yellow card on VAR's recommendation, but he claimed Hagi's tackle was clumsy rather than violent. 'Ianis didn't play for a long time,' said the Rangers boss. 'The red card is a clumsy challenge. It's one from a player who is not yet fit at the moment.
Rangers 2-0 St Johnstone: Cerny discovers home comforts at last as double earns hug from Clement

As weeks go, Vaclav Cerny had witnessed better. First came that unfortunate business when the on-loan winger told the Rangers supporters where to go during the laboured win over Hibs.
Next came his aberration in front of goal in the opening minutes of a 4-1 rout in the Europa League, Lyon star Maxence Caqueret compounding the agony by thanking the Czech after the game for waking his team up.
By the time the wide man deactivated his Instagram account, he was ready to curl up in a ball and seek refuge in a darkened room.
Lyon are masters of the house to leave Rangers seeing stars on miserable Europa League night at Ibrox

Just a couple of miles from Ibrox, Glasgow opened its doors to Les Miserables as the first of four showings went ahead at The Hydro.
Tickets will cost you a pretty penny to see the French musical masterpiece over these next few days, commanding the same lavish fees as many of the Lyon players who took centre stage in a 4-1 dismantling of Rangers.
Chief among them was Malick Fofana, the brilliant young Belgian winger who lit up this Europa League clash with his electric pace and trickery for the visitors.
