Viktor Palokaj (born March 18, 1981), known professionally as Unikkatil (stylized as UniKKatil), is an Albanian rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer who lives in Bronx, New York.
He was born in Gjakova, Kosovo and his origin is from Kaçinar, Mirditë.
With all messages which he expresses during his songs, he is considered to be the greatest Albanian rapper of all time.
Personal life
Unikkatil finished primary school with excellent results in Prishtina, Kosovo. During high school, he was involved in fights and was kicked out of school three times. Then, he started having karate lessons. In 1995, his best friend Dren Thaqi died in a crash with a train. He dedicated a song to him called "Shpirt n'paqe". He was against the Serbian invasion in Kosovo and supported the war of KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army). Some of his songs were not played on radio, because he would have been in trouble with the Serbian government. In 1996, with his family, he immigrated to the USA. He established Conqueror Records followed by The Bloody Alboz. Except Unikkatil, the other members are Klepto, Presioni, Jetoni, Cyanide, Miloti, NAG, Rameka, TEE, Z.E.F and B-52.
Career
When he first released his first album in 1992, his music career began. His appearance in the Pristina stadium attracted no less than 25,000 fans, according to one of Albania's most popular rappers. He was praised internationally acclaimed Albanian writer Ismail Kadare as a "inspiration to Albanians around the world."
So far, Unikkatil has released five albums. In 2002, Shihemi N'prkujtime was released, followed by Fjált e Pavdekshme in 2004, Prezenton The Bloody Alboz, 2006, and Kanuni i Katilit were released in 2007.
