After new neighbors moved into a £1.1 million apartment above them and tore up the carpets, businessman Sergey Grazhdankin, 42, and his wife, Maria, became 'torture.' Mr Grazhdankin, a insurance services firm, sued his neighbors, Medhi Guissi, and his partner Meriem El Harouchi, for the 'nuisance' triggered by noise from the wooden floors. Judge Tracey Bloom granted Mr Grazhdankin's victory yesterday, finding that the noise they made after their neighbors tore up the old carpets was 'unbearable' and kept them up at night. Mr Guissi and Mrs El Harouchi, the upstairs neighbors, will have to fork out £16,087 in compensation, as well as paying a significant amount of the $250,000 lawyers' fees.
