A Defra minister has told Parliament that the firm responsible for the oil leak in Poole Harbour will pay for the harm caused. Perenco, which owns the Wytch Farm oil field in Dorset, will be responsible for the consequences of a leak that saw 200 barrels of reservoir fluid, which is 15% oil, reach the harbour on Sunday. Lord Benyon, the deputy prime minister, told the House of Lords that the government will make sure the company that caused the damage will pay out in damages.
